The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Management Agency reported a cybersecurity breach affecting the CodeRED mass notification system. An organized cybercriminal group targeted the OnSolve CodeRED environment, removing user data including names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, and possibly passwords, though none of it appears to be published online.
The compromised platform has been shut down, and a transition to the new CodeRED by Crisis24 system is being fast-tracked, using backup data from March 31, 2025. Some features—such as automated weather alerts, shape file libraries, and IPAWS alerts—are currently unavailable but are expected to return soon.
Officials urge users to change passwords used elsewhere and expressed regret for the disruption while full capabilities are restored. For questions, users can contact crsupport@crisis24.com.
