Uvalde CISD will close schools from Sept. 15–18 after detecting ransomware on its servers. The attack disrupted key systems, including phones, thermostats, cameras, and visitor management tools, which the district says are critical for safety. Officials have reported the incident to the FBI and cybersecurity teams and are conducting a forensic investigation to determine how the malware entered the system and whether any sensitive data was compromised. The missed days will be swapped with other non-working days already built into the school calendar.
