WestJet says some passengers’ personal info stolen in June security breach

WestJet confirmed that a June 13 cyberattack exposed some passengers’ personal information, including names, contact details, travel-related documents, and data about their relationship with the airline. The company says credit card details, CVV numbers, and passwords were not compromised.

Containment measures have been completed, and additional security steps have been implemented while the investigation continues. WestJet is notifying affected customers, offering fraud assistance through Cyberscout, and providing guidance on its website. It is cooperating with law enforcement, including the FBI and Canadian authorities, and has notified credit agencies and privacy regulators.
